A Recognizable Face in a Lawful K-Drama Wins Gold
Lee Jin-wook, who played Player 246 in the popular video game Squid Game, makes a full comeback to Netflix in a brand-new persona. In Beyond the Bar, he portrays Yoon Seok-hoon, an accomplished attorney who guides the aspirational rookie Kang Hyo-min (Jung Chae-yeon).
Written by Park Mi-hyun and directed by Kim Jae-hong, the series has already achieved early success both at home and abroad. Beyond the Bar received 3.1 million watch hours from 1.8 million viewers between July 28 and August 3, placing it at number 10 internationally among non-English shows, according to Netflix's most recent audience data.
In six nations—South Korea, Singapore, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Venezuela—it is also trending in the Top 10.
High hopes and high viewership
After its August 2 premiere, Beyond the Bar airs two new episodes every Saturday and Sunday. Three and four of the series' twelve episodes will premiere on August 9 and August 10, respectively.
In South Korea, the show is already a hit, topping the Nielsen ratings nationwide and earning praise for its engaging storytelling and strong performances.
Though still early in its run, Beyond the Bar has the potential to become one of the most beloved legal dramas on Netflix, especially with five weekends of episodes still to come. Its consistent momentum and international reach signal a long stay in the global rankings.
